My friend passed this along to me a while ago. My fault for just getting around to posting this now. Thank you for the super awesome find though. Apparently Daryl Hall from Hall and Oates, hosts this show called, "Live From Daryl's House." The video below comes from an episode he did that featured Booker T, from Booker T and the MG's (The legendary backing band for the legendary Stax record label), and Stereofat's most posted about artist, Mayer Hawthorne. They get down on Mayer's song, "Just Ain't Gonna Work Out." I could do without Daryl singing. I am pretty sure he forgets the lyrics at one point, but yeah it's his house, so I guess he can do whatever the hell he damn well pleases.
Daryl also did an episode with another one of my favorite artists, Sharon Jones. It's strange to see her without the Dap Kings. You can't really get a better backing band than them but Daryl and his crew do a pretty good job of standing in for them. Below is their video for, "100 Days."
Pretty sweet deal Daryl has going on at his house. Check out his site for full episodes and peruse the archives. You don't want to miss gems like the Bacon Brothers episode or the one with the lead singer of the Goo Goo Dolls...stellar stuff.

Upcoming Shows
You guys took my previous advice and went to the Insane Clown Posse show right? How was it? Did you guys figure out how magnets work?
Well I hope you enjoyed yourselves. I only went to one show out of the many that were posted...and no it wasn't the Wondergirls one. I saw Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings at the Warfield and it was awesome. The Dap Kings are seriously one of the greatest live bands ever. The Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings concert experience is at the top of my list for quality shows. Sharon has way too much energy for being in her 50's, she never misses a note, she belts everything out with so much skill it's unbelievable, and she can get down with a James Brownsian flare that will put anyone to shame. You add this together with the solid backing of the Dap Kings and you have one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Look, Zumbi from Zion-I and his twitter agree with me.
"The DapKings r the tightest band Ive ever seen live. Slick. http://yfrog.com/0kqodj."
We were actually standing right next to him when he tweeted this but I didn't want to bother him, or creep him out by whispering, "I love your band," in his ear. I will say this though, that dude is a gentleman, he was carrying his girl's purse for her and he went to go get her a bottle of water. That's a keeper, I make girls carry everything for me, even my keys, because I don't like the way they rub against my delicate legs when they are in my pocket. Plus it's easier for them to hand and then light me a cigarette when they already have that stuff in their possession. All I have to do is snap, it's easier for everyone that way.
Onto business. Shows you should go to and creepily watch someone tweet at behind the jump.

Upcoming Shows
One of the best things about living in a major metropolitan area, besides the abundance of hookers, is the fact that when people go on tour they usually pencil us in for a little session. Just think about those poor people who live in places like Ekalaka, Montana, population 410. Do you think the Backstreet Boys ever think about them when they are making their tour schedules? I think not!!! Yet they do think about us, and thank God for that. We get two shows!! How many does Ekalaka get? I am going to guess a big fat zero, and that's just not fair to the good people of Ekalaka. I would glady give them one of our Backstreet Boy shows, shit I will be even more generous and give them both of them. Without that one that is missing it's just not the same. Free (whoever is missing)!!! Or R.I.P. or Good decision to not cling so pathetically to your past glory!!! At least their groupies are legal now. Go get em boys!!
There are always a ton of great shows in the Bay Area, despite the aforementioned BSB (That's how the kids say it right?) show. After the jump some real shows that are worth attending.
