Eye Candy

Emilio Rojas, "Breaking Point" from Erojasmanagement on Vimeo.

Emilio Rojas is a talented emcee.  One of the newer dudes on the scene who I check in on from time to time.  He has a really nice flow and a distinctive voice.  Here is his video for the title track his upcoming project “Breaking Point” presented By DJ Green Lantern and Billionaire Boys Club. This was filmed in Europe while on tour by Zerotrois.

STS is on the same list as Emilio.  He goes hard on a track.  This is his video for, "Cliche'."  I admire his rapid fire delivery and the bravado that comes through in his voice.

Jean Grae and Talbi Kweli with the extended  cut of their video, "Uh Oh."  Two well respected pillars of the hip hop scene.  Jean is on the top of my female emcee, list even though she hates the differentiation.  Talib is on my top emcee list overall.  Both are signed to Talib's Blacksmith label.

Lana Del Rey's video for “Video Games.”  Nice mixing of old footage with the new.

Talib Kweli and DJ Chaps- Early Mourning Signs Mixtape

It seems like the only hip hop news that has peaked my interest lately has been Reflection Eternal related stuff.  I am working on the next hip hop mix, but there is a lot of garbage out there right now.  I sit down, try and start listening and curse myself for blindly downloading without previewing.  For real, I have some straight bullshit on my computer.  I actually have a mix cut down to the standard hour and twenty minute time limit.  But it has filler...it has a Fat Joe track, and that just seems a little wrong, like I could do better.  I have been trying though, I listen to some hood dudes, spit that trap music over whack beats, get fed up and switch to soul, which I find much more enjoyable to sift through.  I am easily distracted when faced with opposition.  So to any of the straight up hip hop heads, I apologize, you may see nine Pop Princess mixes before I get the next hip hop one done.

Also if you are a straight up hip hop head, why the fuck are you reading this site?  Go here, that's where I get most of my hip hop shit from.   You may also want to check out here, here, and here. You can get 99% of the shit from my mixes from other sites, I am merely a compiler, sorter, editor, world class butter sculptor.  If you want to do it yourself you totally can.

Here is a little present that you can get from Nahright.  Talib Kweli and DJ Chaps just dropped their mixtape yesterday.  I haven't listened to it, which we just discussed, is how I get in trouble, but Talib is one dude that is worthy of a blind download in my book.

Head over to Nahright.com and grab it here.

Reflection Eternal Tour Dates

Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek accepted each others friend requests and not only have a new album coming out but a tour as well. These two were responsible for some of the go to jams in my college days.  We used to put on "This Means You".....and then continue to sit there not doing much of anything.  But boy did that song make me want to get hyped.  If only getting hyped didn't require so much energy.
