Eye Candy

I don't know about you guys but I spent a shitload of time in Malls during the 80's. In my little suburban town it was the epicenter of all things teen. If we had nothing to do, which was pretty much every weekend, we would go and walk around the mall. We would oogle the girls, get an orange julius and stop in the arcade for a round of Samurai Showdown or The Simpson's Arcade game. Later I got a job at the mall so I spent even more time there. This reminds me of was my childhood.

This has nothing to with music, but come on look at how joyous that little guy is, how could I not post it?

This has been everywhere and for good reason. Featuring perhaps the most famous of the Ma clan, Yo Yo Ma, doing his thing on the Cello. He dropped the H in the 80's not because he was ashamed of us Mah's, but as a protest to his friends and fellow musicians rampant use of heroin. I totally didn't make that up....or did I? Here is what Spike Jonze had to say about the video.

"Jonze says this of the project, “The other day, I was lucky enough to be at an event to bring the arts back into schools and got to see an amazing collaboration between Yo-Yo Ma and a young dancer in LA, Lil Buck. Someone who knows Yo-Yo Ma had seen Lil Buck on YouTube and put them together. The dancing is Lil Buck’s own creation and unlike anything I’ve seen. Hope you enjoy.”

Behind the Jump more videos.  Murs and Aesop, Azure', Transformers performing Thriller, new Fleet Foxes, Kero One and David Choi covering Cee-lo, Tennis, Bill Cosby dancing to Dubstep, Daniel Cloud Campos dancing, and a video from Dirty Beaches...that's a lot of shit.

I like Murs, sometimes I like Aesop. I usually don't like Aesop beats because he comes from that school of underground hip hop where the beats can get unaccesible and follow some artistic rhythm that I just can't nod my head to. I prefer head nodders with good lyrics, not good lyrics with a beat that you listen to with a furrowed brow and hand on your chin thinking, yesss, very thought provoking and artistic. This song is ok though.

Murs- Varsity Blues (produced by Aesop)

"As The Globe Spins" by Azuré, aka Justin Park. Representing the Bay. Nice throwback beat on this, good vibe.

Transformers perform, "Thriller." Not nerdy at all. Strangely captivating though. I see you Optimus, work it gi-eh-robot?

Fleet Foxes who have a sold out show at the Fox theater have a new video. Ugh I wish I would have gotten tickets, I already had the flannel and the beard I just forgot about the most important item of all...a little beanie...or tickets, yeah I guess those were the most important thing.

Another video from Tennis.

Tennis - "Take Me Somewhere" from Ian Perlman on Vimeo.

Kero One and Davis Choi get down on a cover of Cee-lo's song, "Forget You." I just heard the original this morning in my head phones, I miss the vulgarity of the original lyrics. Forget you just doesn't convey the same thing as a well placed, "Fuck you."

Bill Cosby dances to Dubstep...yep that's about all I have to say about that.

Daniel Cloud Campos who had that awesome house cleaning video has this new one called, "Music Box."

Dirty Beaches who have a song on some indie mix, I am not sure if I posted it yet but they are somewhere on something have a video which can be seen below.

Dirty Beaches - Golden Desert Sun from Jacqueline Lachance on Vimeo.
