Free Music

Here is a free song from DumbFoundead, Jay Park, and Clara C!, called "Clouds." It's a little too Kumbaya for me, but that's because I only listen to music about moving o's and ho's.

Free Download

Ahhh now this is more like it.

I have no idea what this is but I can tell I am going to like it. You know how all of the BEST comedies have the white poster with the red lettering?

Just like how once I see that white poster with red lettering I know I will be laughing hysterically about improbable family hijinks and stressed out zany parents dealing with their children. When I see a mixtape cover with that metallic sheen style font like the gold I yearn to drape around my neck and encase my teeth with, I know it will be great. All of the best mixtapes have large amounts of money, chains, and computer generated cities full of people that look like Armand Assante. If you seriously want it, you can grab it via Nahright.

One last bit of uselessness.  Apparently everyone but me knew that Artie, from Glee, was in a boy band. I am not sure whether I get plus or minus points for not knowing this. I am leaning towards plus.

Soul Mix 5

I have been slacking with getting mixes together. It's because I don't love you and I have much more important things to do, like nude Tai-chi in Golden Gate Park, it's a great way to start the day.

Here is a new soul mix, do you guys like soul music? Does anyone read this?

I love this Paul Kelly song, "The Upset," off of Eccentric Soul 007, this is the same album that has that Helene Smith cover of Otis Redding's, "Pain In My Heart."  We discussed it here in the last Soul Mix post.  It just has a nice driving rhythm, great pace and vocals.  It flows so well, it's a legit foot tapper.

Duuuuude *bong rip*

Whoa this is awesome. When I was in college we used to try and find some sort of synchronicity like this.  We had old Disney VHS tapes and hip hop mixes.  We were searching for that, Wizard Of Oz/The Wall, moment.  I think the closest we got was, "Hee hee, Balloo is dancing to Blackalicious."  This guy does it much better.  Levek aka David Levesque, is a musician, artist and videographer from Orlando.

Nice write up on Levek, two tracks to download and a video for one of his originals, here at iguessimfloating.blogspot.com.

Here is where I happened to stumble upon the video.  Matt Carr's  http://www.everybodytaste.com/.  You guys should definitely check it out, it's an actual music blog.  Unlike some people...he is knowledgeable, he doesn't just steal other people's music, and he has good taste and write ups.  I think the blog is based out of Portland too, which is a place I romanticize. After all I am just a small town girl, living in a lonely world.

Hip Hop Mix 2-13-2010

New Hip Hop mix.  I am not really sure if it sucks but I have been slacking on mixes.  So something is better than nothing...maybe?

Update, no idea why the links
keep breaking,
I hate your new player Jeffro!!
Download link should still work.
I listened to the mix in the car
and it's just alright,
it starts out super hood,
then segues into some more soul laced stuff.

Samples below

I like Raekwon.  I also like the sound of whistling, coincidentally this song contains Raekwon and whistling.  I can't whistle a tune, for some reason I can't raise or lower the pitch, I don't know how.  I can whistle like a bird but that's just random noises as opposed to a melody.  Thank you for listening.  *sits down*

Soul Patrol

I saw this fellow cruising around my neighborhood and and asked myself:
1) Why hasn't his bike snapped in half yet?
2) Is it just the beginning of shorts season?
3) What music keeps him entertained throughout his work day?

Lucky for me I witnessed him chasing a gang of senior citizens racing on their Segue's down the street. As he was in full pursuit, his police bag fell off his cruiser and to my surprise I found a bottle of Hawaiian Tropics tanning oil, a 2 liter of Mountain Dew and his iPod. After working on my tan and chugging the soda, I poked around his iPod and found the following mix. Who would have guessed Mr. Patrol has so much soul! Download his mix here: Soul Patrol

Heavy Rotations

With all this sunshine, I find myself rocking way more upbeat stuff. Here's a mix of some the songs getting heavy rotations on my hard drive these days. Some of the highlights include a new CocoRosie song (give it time, it builds a little slowly), the 80s pop jam "Crash" by The Primitives, and all the songs from The Morning Benders (get their new album, Big Echo, it's solid) and The National (coming to the Fox Theater in Oakland on May 25th and 26th). Enjoy
