Indie Mix 11

One amazing piece from Doyle's current show.

Thomas Doyle has been doing amazing sculptures for a while now.  His current show at LeBasse Projects is no exception.   Check out the rest of the show here.

Get your grubby paws on the new indie mix here or hit the jump for some samples and the track list.

The first song on the mix comes from Pepper Rabbit. The song is called, "Harvest Moon" and you can check out the video below. Great vibe and sound.

This is a cover saturated mix again, because no good music has been made since the 60's...I keed..sort of.  Tashaki Miyaki appears with the song first discussed here, the cover of Sam Cooke's, "Nothing Can Change This Love of Mine." You all know how much I love Sam. Super competent cover, I love that everyone is going back to this sound.

Head on over to Everybody Taste, to check out the UFO Club's cover of the Ronette's, "Be My Baby." Good stuff. I actually had to choose between this version and another one done by a group called Kids. That will probably make it onto another mix because you can never really have too much Ronettes. It seems like a ton of indie bands are heading back to the Ronettes/Specter trough and I am not mad at that.

"Whole Wide World" by Wreckless Eric and oddly enough by Will Ferrell in the movie, "Stranger Than Fiction" is on this mix. This version is by, Bahamas. They take the nice sweet acoustic path with their version. "Stranger Than Fiction" was a great movie. TAXMAN!!!!

The Morning Benders show up with their cover of Paul Mcartney's, "Ram." Yellow Ostrich throws his hat into the ring with his cover of Joanna Newsom's, "'81," and Josh Ritter and Dawn Landes cover Hedy West's, "500 Miles."

There are also two songs by, We Are Trees. First featured here, I can not get enough of these guys. They are so good, one of my new favorite bands, fer real, fer real. Please support them, by going to their site and buying their music. I have been waiting for the vinyl of their second ep, "The Girlfriend ep" to drop. I think the label is having money issues though so chip in and let them know that their quality production is not going unnoticed. Take a look at the video for their first song on the mix, "I Don't Believe In Love."

Fuuuuuck they are good. "It's starts with a kiss and ends with a bitch." Ha! They are great. The guitar riff that drops at the 1:21 mark on their second entry, "You," is money so look for that.

Love the instrumentation on this track by Abadbad's song, "California Birds" too.

I have been playing this mix for a long time, I feel like it has some lasting power, there are some nice tunes on here so give it a listen.
