R.I.P. to Maurice Sendak author of, "Where the Wild Things Are." For such a short book it had a pretty amazing way of worming its way into everyone's childhood nostalgia caves. Seriously I can close my eyes and see the drawings right now. Below is a video from Karen O. and the Kids that was on the Soundtrack of the Spike Jonze directed movie version of, "Where the Wild Things Are."
So John Travolta was in, "Saturday Night Fever." A movie, that had one of the greatest disco soundtracks of all time...if you are into disco soundtracks. "Last Days of Disco's" soundtrack may actually be superior but that's beside the point. I was trying to come up with a reason to post this insane video about his recent sexual assault litigation.
The shit these Taiwanese animators come up with. I swear I would be so up to date on recent news if they covered every story this way. I think I would have this channel on in my house 24/7. It's sooo good. You can not tell me that you did not enjoy this video. The bleach in the eyes, the noticeable retching, Jules cooking burgers, the Rabbis with the pink dildos, I mean come on!! It has everything you could ask for and more.
New Beach House track called, "Lazuli." Sounds like it will be a good one. Looking forward to the album.
Kid Koala performing, "Basin Street Blues." Stole this from Boing Boing.
Does anyone remember watching this as a kid? Oh man I used to love this cartoon and the dance. Nice little throwback to wash the Travolta out of your eyes. Put it in the bag bump bump.

Upcoming Shows
Some of the shows from this post are still valid. A small amount of new ones are listed below.
December
December
Sunday December 5th, the entire Hiero crew will be at the Oakland Metro Opera House. Tickets are $20 presale, and doors open at 8. I have never heard of the Oakland Metro Opera House, but I have heard of Hiero, might be worth checking out if you are in the East Bay.
January
The Budos Band is playing the Independent on Saturday, January 15th. Tickets are $20, grab them here. Doors open at 8:30. This should be a great show. These guys are solid and if you are a fan of the Dap Kings, that throwback, soul, retro awesomeness and horns, then I recommend that you go to this.
February
The Decemberists and Mountain Man will be at the Fox theater on Valentine's day. That date would be Monday, February 14th. Tickets are $37.50 and can be found here. I have yammered on about Mountain Man before, so I feel comfortable saying this will be a good show.
March
Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. and Tapes N' Tapes are coming to the Bottom of The Hill on Friday March 11th. Tickets are $16 and available here. It's a later show with doors opening at 10:00 pm. I am really into these guys at the moment. Their Horsepower EP is four songs of greatness that I keep talking about, and I was actually just looking to see if they were coming to town the other day. My search came up with only a couple of stops in NY and DC, so it was a nice surprise to find this posting in my general venue search.

Upcoming Shows
Upcoming shows time. I arranged them differently this time. Whereas before they were by venue, now they are by date. I just like to switch it up, I do the same thing with my workout routine. Sometimes I bench press cars, sometimes Municipal buildings. It just depends on the mood I am in.
September
Vetiver will be performing with The Fresh & Onlys as their openers. They will be Vetivering all over your ear canals at.The Independent on Sunday, September 5. Doors: 7:30 PM / Show: 8:00 PM. $15 tickets can be found here.

The Moonshine Bandits will be opening for them, doors open at 8:30 and tickets are $10 with a $1.54 service charge. Grab them here. I guess this is for the hardcore Cash fans who never got to see him live.
Saturday, September 25, Vampire Weekend with guests: Beach House and The Very Best will be at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. I am a big fan of Beach House, who's coming with me? The show starts at 7:00PM and general admission tickets are $37.50 plus service charges. Tickets are online here or go to the box office in Berkeley or the Fox to avoid service charges.
Perfume Genius and two yet to be named acts will be making The Bottom of the Hill smell fancy on September 27. If you would like to lock down your place and buy tickets now though, have at it.

Fri, October 01, The Duckdown crew will be rolling into Slim's. This is a pretty quality group of performersrepping that real hip hop of days gone by. Sat, November 20, Slim's is at it again. This night local legends and room rockers, Zion I bring the ruckus. I highly recommend anyone who has not seen these guys live, attend this. I have lost count of how many times I have seen them but they have never done a bad show while I have been there. Even rocking for a crowd of five people for Black Family Day, in Davis, these guys get down no matter the situation. They can make non hip hop fans stans in the matter of a set. Beleedat.
Showtime: 9:00 PM (Doors: 8:00 PM)
Ticket price: $20/$23
